## About Wim Sweldens
Belgian-American scientist, engineer, and entrepreneur. PhD in applied mathematics (KU Leuven); executive MBA (Kellogg). Inventor of the wavelet lifting scheme, adopted in the JPEG 2000 and MPEG 4 standards. Spent a decade at Bell Labs (researcher, then VP of computing research); helped establish digital geometry processing; contributed to space-time coding for wireless MIMO systems; worked with Yann LeCun on neural-network image coding. Ran ventures and the wireless division at Alcatel-Lucent (lightRadio). Co-founder and CEO of Kiswe (interactive live streaming). Member of the Royal Belgian Academy of Sciences. h-index 49; 30+ US patents.
